Cancelled Final Shows

June 13, 1971

June 13-25, 1971:

June 13, 1971: Allman Brothers show was cancelled, even as it was advertised in the paper that day. The band got wind of the club’s financial trouble and demanded full advance payment before they even left New York. Fingerhut scraped it together, but when he called the next day they said that they had already rebooked the date. The Allman Brothers show was supposed to be supported by a group called debb johnson, made up of high school kids playing Big Band Swing. There was no debb johnson, but the leader was Bill Barber, Jr., who played several instruments. Barber was the son of a jazz pianist father and a jazz singer mother. Will Jones really liked debb johnson.

June 15-16, 1971: Wayne Cochran and the CC Riders

June 25, 1971: Stan Kenton and His Orchestra
