White Elephant Night Club

888 Ohio Street

St. Paul

Evidence of the White Elephant Night Club comes from an item in the Minneapolis Star, dated November 8, 1933:

Dakota county deputy sheriffs, assisted by several St. Paul police squad cars, arrested five men in the White Elephant night club, 888 Ohio street today, and found two revolvers in their possession and an extra set of license plates in their parked car.  The men were jailed for investigation as possible hijackers of three slot machines from the cafe several days ago.

Mrs. Myrtle Gallagher, who became suspicious of the men who had visited the cafe several times recently, secretly notified her sister upstairs when the men appeared there today.  The sister called police and the men were arrested.

A search of the address found an Edmund C. Gallagher living there in 1940 and 1943.
