THE MINNESOTA MUSIC ACADEMY
The Minnesota Music Awards of 1987 were run by the Minnesota Music Academy. The Mission Statement of the MMA is found in the first newsletter of the organization, identified as Vol. 1, Winter ’87, and issued in about January 1987. It reads:
The Minnesota Music Academy, established in March of 1986, is a nonprofit corporation committed to assisting Minnesota musicians in their artistic and professional development. The MMA will achieve this through programs of education and recognition.
