PLACE:   First Avenue

PERFORMERS

  • Boiled in Lead

  • Billy McLaughlin

  • The Micronauts

NOTES:

Winners were chosen by about 180 of the 340 members of the Minnesota Music Academy.

In 19 of the 45 categories, the awards were pieces of art designed by high school studens at All Arts High School in Plymouth or by professional artists.

Four days of Icebreaker events were presented by seven local record labels at six nightclubs.

Although Soul Asylum won four award and lead singer Dave Pirner was named top male vocalist, the band was performing at the Orange County Fairgrounds in New York and could not attend the ceremony.
