- About 150 Awards were presented at the Orpheum Theater

- Featured a special jazz tribute to Reginald Buckner
- Winners were chosen by 500 “creative” members (musicians, producers, songwriters, etc.) of the nonprofit Minnesota Music Academy. Associate members (managers, agents, etc.) voted only for best entertainer/group, album, and single.
- Icebreaker ’89 Showcase Club Concerts were held on May 12 and 13 at 22 venues around the Twin Cities, featuring the nominated musicians.
- 11 Music Business Seminars were offered on May 8, 10, and 13.
- Only the winners are listed for this year. I hope to get the nominees at some point.
