1100 W. University Ave. near the Coliseum in St. Paul. Played host to Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, and Louis Armstrong. Became the Vanity Fair. Very elegant. Ben Pollack’s band made a lengthy appearance in the late 1920s and early ’30s, with Jack Teagarden. Another band was McKinney’s Cotton Pickers. With the end of Prohibition, Norvy Mulligan’s band played there frequently. In 1984 the building was a grocery story.
